Spin, spin, spin…

It’s all about the spin at the moment. Well, the spin and the summer cold. Somebody did say to me that this is summer but, maybe they lied.

I started spinning last October when I met the lovely Knitcave for the first time. She showed me a Turkish Spindle and I fell in love. Before that, all I knew about spinning was that I couldn’t work Mum’s old spinning wheel to save my life. Little did I know back then that her wheel had a name!

I have learned so much since October. It’s not even a year and I own 4 spindles, three from the same company,The Wood Emporium and one of a different type.
I joined the Tour De Fleece this year and have an “E” so far. My plan was to spin a minimum of two kops and I am on my third already with 10 days left for the final result.
Photos are in my Flickr spinning album. I won’t bore you with them here.
Did I mention that I want my own wheel? Hehehehe.

What beautiful spindles this gentleman makes! I have adored learning to spin on my drop spindle and from there on my wheel. I did absolutely nothing for Tour de Fleece 😦 I had been rearranging organizing my room so that my stash fits better and my wheel was stored in an awkward place during the transformation. It’s back in place now but I haven’t sat down at her again. I should have just gone back to my drop spindle for Tour de Fleece 🙂 Oh well, next year 🙂 *huggles*

      This was my first Tour.
I went way past my own hopes or expectations and got 100g spun and plied. I still need to set the twist but have moved onto the next braid of fluff.
      So exciting!
